| Mina Oka Hanig
Seeing and discovering nature has deepened my appreciation for life, and I feel an urge to express what I experience. The key to conveying my experience lies in the choice of color and calligraphic gesture; their emotional impact continues to fascinate me. Subtle gradations of hue, shading, and tone can shift the emotional landscape of a painting, introducing complexity and ambiguity. My works range from expressionistic figures and landscapes to abstraction.
I grew up in Osaka, Japan. I hold an MPA degree from the George Washington University and have studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and the Montgomery College.
