Artist's Statement

THE SILENCE OF NATURE

With all of the tension, fear, and uncertainty so evident in the world today, we need to be reminded of the serenity found in the natural world around us. My work presents simple, innocent everyday visions we either ignore or take for granted. I find tranquility in the stillness of a salt marsh, comfort in the reflection of a summer sky, and drama in the loneliness of a country meadow. I feel tenderness in the clouds on the beach at sunset and grace in the majesty of the Teton peaks. These all deserve recognition and appreciation for their own natural poetry. My photographs strive to inspire calm and peacefulness by reflecting upon the deep silence in nature, which is just the reminder we need.
